Hey ladies! Where are you? Your voices? Your strength? Your frustration being marginalized again? There have been so many times lately within the news cycles that transgender people are being celebrated, but women are paying for it. I’m tired of it.
Are we afraid to take up space and be heard?
The men who are decidedly, in their minds, women and partaking in women’s sports. Winning 1st place, when coming in the back of the pack for men – only to take that award from a women. Not cool. Where are the ladies and their advocates?
I’m finding out that women college athletes are being asked if it’s alright if transgender men can participate in women’s sports. Where’s the outrage? Are women to afraid to say “No!”? Why is that even a question that needs to be asked?
Biologically speaking men and women were designed, by God, to be hunter-gatherers and baby-makers. Males are generally physically designed to be stronger, built to defend. While females are generally designed to bear children – softer, not built for war but to continue the population. While roles within society may have changed, genetics haven’t been altered to the same extent.
So, my answer is “Hell no!” to transgender men in women’s sports. Stay in your lane. I competed with boys growing up playing soccer, we didn’t have women’s teams. I understood, at some point, what I was challenged with. Most of the boys were faster, stronger and better athletes then I was. We didn’t have girl’s teams or leagues until much, much later in my life. It took a while to get where we are today, so be patient, make your case, build your own league – don’t take mine.
The infamous chocolate bar incident, thanks Hershey. (Can I insert a middle finger here?) Putting a transgender man on the wrapper to celebrate International Women’s Day was a kick to the lady parts. You pushed an entire population to the back of the bus. He is not a woman. If you want to celebrate transgender day, pick another one! No, you decided it was alright to marginalize women, biological women, and take their day. I’m pissed off. It’s not right. I will make sure my money doesn’t knowingly go to you again.
I look at my daughter and wonder what we are doing to the girls within society. Women fought for so much for generations before me, barriers be damned. We’re still fighting. I’m concerned that opportunities once fought for to provide equality for women’s rights are again being handed to men. If the transgender population wants to fight for their rights, please do so, but don’t step on me… my daughter… my niece… my mother… and all the other real women in the world.
